Greensborough Angling club had a trip to Johnsonville on the Tambo river over this weekend and all in all it was a diisapointing trip. Most arrived on the friday night and we set up and went to the pub for tea and a beer. It started to rain about 9-00pm friday night and did not stop until 5-00 sunday morning and then it was patchy. Most members didn`t venture out for long on the saturday with 5 inches of rain hitting us in 24 hrs no one was too keen to get that wet. At the end the competition was won by Carl Ravenello with 2 bream at aprox 500 grams each. The fishing was very quiet with the water becoming very brown with the rain and alot of small fish around.

Greensborough Angling Club had their annual casting comp at yarrambat park on Sunday 1st May. One of our newer member Kaz came out and blitzed the field in the longest distance casting with a surf rod throwing a 6oz plug 109.5 mtrs and then a 2 oz plug 110 mtrs. Several members came close at just over 100 meters. Then came the accuracy at 4 targets over 30 meters with a head wind and a trout outfit, and this was won by Brian Bam with 3 targets hit and several other members with 2 hits and even some with none. Then came accuracy over 40 meters with a surf rod and a 2oz plug and Frank Griska won this being only 800mm from the stick which was a great effort with the cross wind. A BBQ followed and a couple of beers for lunch to finish of the day. Photos below are of our casting competition.

Members of the club ventured down to Bemm River over the long weekend. The weather turned out to be fantastic for the trip and all members were looking forward to another great weekend. Everyone turned up on the Friday night and ended up getting to bed about 1am ready for an early start in the morning. It started out with most getting on the water about 7-00 but the fishing was slow with sand worm very hard to get because they were spawning, so prawn was the go.By the end of the first day only 4 fish were weighed, with some members chasing the Bream on lures. That night the fishing wasn't so good so myself, Al and Hally headed out to get some fresh prawns to eat because they said they were running. They were right there was thousands of medium to small prawns of which we scooped only a few from the water into the boat while we were motoring around on the electric outboard. After having about 1/2 a bucket we proceeded back to cook them up only to find Russell hovering around waiting for a feed. Sunday morning came people were a bit slower out of the beds because the fishing was quiet so they had breaky then headed out with a few more fish being caught again for the day with Tim , Mark and Allan landing Bream and luderick while trolling and casting lures in swan lake.Sunday night after a feed at Bemm River Hotel we were off for more prawns (we had to take something home) so another half a bucket and we were back and cooking again with the others staying at the pub for beer and food. Biggest Bream was 880 grams caught by Bill Fleming and a bag of 2.55kg which won him his first competition for the club (well done Bill) , but all in all most of the members had an enjoyable trip and we will look forward to going again next year.
