2003 Fishing Reports

Well another year has almost past and our christmas party was back again.
There was plenty of food and entertainment for the kids both big and small. The jumping castle was a big hit for the kids until father christmas came and had a sack full of presants.Following are a few photos of members and family of the Greensborough Angling Club
2/12/03
Snapper report have been excellent still this week with Snapper to 5kg being caught from P2 to Fawkner Beacon
These snapper at 50-60cm were caught near Fawkner Beacon last Friday night.
Other reports from Greensborough angler Hally said that they have landed Snapper from 3kg to 5kg
right near Fawkner Beacon in the last week
Best time for fishing for these fish is mid afternoon until 10-00pm with silver whiting or Pilchards
Other reports of snapper have come from Olivers Hill with snapper to 4kg being landed.
Freshwater has been going well with good reports from lake Dartmouth on lures with Brown Trout to
3kg and Rainbows to 2kg
Eildon pondage has fished well with Trout to 3kg still being caught on Power Bait.
23/11/03
Snapper have been going well with Greensborough anglers catching Snapper over 50cm
along the channel from StKilda in the late afternoon.
The snapper have been also caught from Rickets Point to Williamstown in good numbers.
Whiting have been caught in close off Williamstown.
Trout to 10lb have been caught at the Eildon Pondage from 3-00pm until dark on Powerbait.
Reports of Yellowbelly in the pondage to 6lb by anglers.
Lake Eppalock is producing Yellowbelly to 6lb off the bank on yabbies.
Good Bream and Estuary Perch have been caught in the channell at Bemm River.

Snapper are running well out from Rickets Point with fish to 6kg on Silver Whiting
Other reports of the Snapper are at Corio Bay with a few fish to 3kg being landed.
Reports from Eildon Pondage have good with Trout to 3kg being caught on Power Bait
and mudeyes under a float.
Yellowbelly are being caught at Eppalock on Yabbies off the bank with fish to 4kg being landed.
Bemm River has Perch to 40cm and Bream to 40cm fishing in the channel with soft plastics.
Kilcunda beach has produced salmon to 1ks on the flood tide.

Reports have been coming in from Port Phillip Bay of squid over the weed beds on
Yo-Zuri squid jigs out from Queenscliff and the Fort
.Snapper reports have come in from Stkilda to Carrum.
Whiting reports are in from Portsea area with bags of 10-15 Whiting for persistant anglers.
Eildon Pondage has had Trout to 6lb being landed of Bourke St on Power Bait.
27/9/03
Fishing has been on the improve with all of the rain that we have had.
Lake Eppalock has risen from 6% to 21% in 6 weeks which has begun to get some good fish biting.
THE 5 KNOT SPEED LIMIT HAS BEEN LIFTED AT LAKE EPPALOCK
Yellowbelly to 16lb and carp to 12lb have been reported from the bank on worms.
Frank Griska of Greensborough Angling Club says a good tip is to look for worms that hide under the cow pats and use them because they are good bait.
Allan Moore of GDAC has been fishing in the Patterson River among the pilons
and has caught some good BREAM to 42cm.
The bay has been ok with reports of good flathead coming from the Pinnace Channel
and Squid off Queenscliff.
Eildon Pondage has had Trout to 9lb being caught on scrub worms and mudeyes under floats.
The lake at Eildon is producing trout to 3lb trolling pink tassie lures ,although the lake is quite dirty.

Greensborough Angling Club had a trip to Bemm River last weekend 30-31/8/03 with some good fishing for all.
The winner of the comp was Allan Moore with a bag of fish including Bream to 1.23kg, luderick to 1kg and
Salmon to 2kg.
The heaviest Salmon was caught by Tim Plummer which went 2.56kg.
With the entrance open at Bemm River the fishing has improved alot , with Salmon before the comp to a very good standard of 2.8kg and plenty off them.

Reports of good salmon coming from BullenMerri in the last week with sizes up to 8 1/2lb
on lures surface trolled.
Malsbury reservoir has produced redfin to 2 1/2 lb on fly at the wall.
Eildon pondage hase been producing trout to 2lb on powerbait and worms
Eildon weir has had a few good trout coming from Big River arm to 3lb.
Bemm river has been producing bream to 3lb and luderick to 2lb
Greensborough Angling club had a competition at the Tambo river on the weekend of 11/12-7
Results were poor for 20 members that attended this trip with only a few bream being landed.
The biggest bream was 820gms weighed by R Patrick with M hall not far behind with a 780grm bream.
Well done to R Conway for his win in this comp.

Gippsland has been fishing well for salmon to 3kg off the beaches.
At Mildura to robinvale cod to 8kg have been caught on lures
Lake bullen merri has fired again withBrown Trout to 3kg being caught.
Trout to 2.5kg being caught at Eildon weir on lures
Tambo and Nicholson are very quiet and producing only a few bream.
Corio bay has a good run of snapper to 5kg in the harbour at east beach
Squid are being caught at black rock and surrounding areas.
Stleonards is still producing whiting

Lake Purrumbete has produced brown trout to 900gms on mudeyes
Lake BullenMerri has been producing salmon to 4kg and trout to 2kg on lures and bait
Eildon lake has trout to 1.3 kg on Tassie Devils and the pondage is producing trout to 3kg at Burke st
Stleonards is producing Whiting around Swan bay
Nicholson ,Tambo are producing bream to 900gms on worm and shell upstream of the jetties
Lakes Entrance has Salmon to 2kg off Eastern Beach
Bemm river has Bream and Trevally to 1kg on prawns
Squid are being reported from Westernport including whiting

Reports from Eildon have been good with fish to 1.2 kg coming from the pondage and reports from the lake in the big river arm have had trout to1kg on lures.
Members of the Greensborough angling club went to Eildon last weekend with a few good fish being caught,Pat Dyson caught a 740grm cleaned Redfin in the pondage tailrace area and also got a 1.1kg brown trout,while John Battista caught a 2.2kg brown trout out of comp.
Whiting have been caught from Werribee to Altona
Reports from Purrumbete and BullenMerri have been quiet
Salmon have been caught from Rosebud to Sorrento in good numbers
Squid have been caught at Queenscliff and Stleonards
Western lake Moderwarre has began to fire with good fish being caught on lures and bait
Salmon have been caught along the east of the state in good size and numbers.

Snapper have been caught around Corio bay as they run out of the bay
Good numbers of salmon and whiting from around St Leonards
Whiting from Werribee to Altona to 38cm
Surf fishing at Kilcunda has produced salmon and the odd shark off the rocks
Venus bay has been producing salmon to 2kg
Tambo river and Mitchel river have produced a few good bream to 30cm
Cod to 65cm have been caught at lake Mulwala on lures
Still some trout coming from lake Bullen Merri on lures under a downrigger.
19/03/03
Pinkies and Whiting have been caught from Brighton to Altona
Werribee River is producing good bream to 1kg
Yarra river is producing Bream near the junction of the Marybrinong
Snapper to 6 kg have been caught at Corio bay,along with whiting around towards the mussel farm at Portarlington.
Lake Bullen Merri is still proding good Quinnet Salmon around the aerators and up past the ski buoys on Lofty Lures.
Murray River has produced yellow belly to 3kg on shrimp at Yarrawonga.
12/03/03
Snapper are still being caught off Mornington and Carrum but the numbers are becoming less
Portarlington have had good catches of Whiting,Flathead and Garfish.
Bemm River has been fishing well for Bream and Luderick to 1kg on live prawns and sandworms and Estuary Perch in the river.The prawns have been running at night with quite a few people out catching them while the entrance is still closed
Eidon pondage has been slow.
Bream have been caught aroung Paynesville and in the Tambo.

Fishing has been good aroung werribee for whiting to 38cm
Snapper are being caught out from Mornington,Safety Beach,Frankston in about 18-19 mtrs of water
Khankoban pondage is fishing well for good size trout
Lake Bullen Merri is fishing well for Bass,and Salmon
Port Albert has been fishing well for Flathead,Gummysharks,with a few whiting around.
The HOTTIES is producing Pinkie snapper after dark in the yarra.
Perch,Bream are being caught at Bemm River ,as well as some good Flathead in the channel.
